It works independent from the grid. Most home appliances such as Fans, TV, Cooler, AC, Water Pump etc. can work through this system. For instance, a 1 KW off grid solar system is sufficient for a 2-4 BHK house for a few hours of backup for fans and lights.
It is most common type of solar power system, with battery backup. It works in day and night both; during the day, solar panel charges the battery and runs the home appliances such as Air Conditioners, Cooler, Television and submersible pump. In daytime, the excess power generated can be used for storage (in the batteries).
At night, when the sun is not available; an inverter runs your home appliances, using the battery power. This gives the consumer the edge of minimum dependency on the grid and a sense of self-sufficiency. Both individual units and small communities can benefit from this system, especially if mini-grids and common systems can be created (to cater to the community).
Benefits of off-grid solar –
1. Avoid Power Outages
2. Reduced electricity costs
3. Easier Installation
4. Easy Alternative for Rural Areas
On-grid solar power system is a solar power generation system where it is connected to the utility grid. The electricity produced by the system is routed to the grid from where it is used to run the various appliances.
Solar Water Heaters provide hot water using solar energy. A Solar Water Heater comprises of an array of solar collectors to collect solar energy and an insulated tank to store the hot water. Solar Water Heaters provide hot water using solar energy.
